Critical Communications in Confined Spaces
Robust Leaky Feeder and self-healing fiber optic systems that deliver mission-critical voice, data, and telemetry deep underground, ensuring complete operational continuity and safety.
Limitless connectivity where conventional signals fade
Robust technology for extreme operations
With over 30 years of accumulated experience providing critical communication solutions in tunnels, underground mining, and subways worldwide, UQOMM has redesigned and modernized classic Leaky Feeder technology.
Our infrastructure not only provides high-clarity bidirectional voice channels but also integrates a data highway for real-time telemetry, personnel tracking, and heavy machinery automation underground.
Pillars of the UQOMM Leaky Feeder System
Industrial equipment specifically designed for the most hostile and demanding environments.
Versatile Leaky Amplifier Device (VLAD)
Bidirectional, multi-volt (6-52 VDC) linear VHF amplifier. Fully compatible with other Leaky Feeder networks (Multi-OEM) and features Automatic Gain Control (AGC) via SMARTune, manual attenuation, and remote diagnostics ready.
Web-Enabled Remote Diagnostics
Web-accessible server monitoring voltage, current draw, downlink RF power, and AGC levels from amplifiers retrofitted with VRDBA diagnostic boards, replacing manual troubleshooting with instant email and SMS alerts.
SMARTRing Self-Healing Redundancy
Integrates the mine's fiber optic backbone with the Leaky Feeder network. In the event of a cable break, the system automatically redirects signals near-instantaneously, returning to normal operation when repaired.
Radiating Coaxial Cable
Low-attenuation coaxial cable with precisely calculated slots in the outer conductor that function as a continuous antenna for uninterrupted VHF/UHF voice and data communications.
Comprehensive Operating Diagram
Unified voice, data, and redundancy in a simplified topology.
Application Areas
Our systems adapt to the specific needs of each underground project.
Underground Mining
Full coverage in galleries, ramps, loading areas, and refuge chambers. Supports telemetry for LHDs, trucks, and gas sensors.
Civil Tunnels
Emergency communication systems for maintenance personnel, fire services, police, and gate telecontrol.
Subways and Metros
Uninterrupted train-to-ground communications, convoy coordination, and data coverage in complex underground stations.
Path Loss Formula
The engineering behind Leaky Feeder design. We calculate signal degradation to place amplifiers at the exact point of maximum efficiency.
LT = (α × d) + Lc
Where: LT = Total Link Loss (dB), α = Cable Attenuation (dB/100m), d = Section Distance (m), Lc = Coupling Loss (dB)
